Grupo Bimbo Founder.
He was born in Mexico City in January 1928. He studied Humanities in Montreal Canada and also accounting at the Escuela Bancaria Comercial in Mexico City. In 1969, he graduated from Harvard University’s Management Development Program.
He is one of the founders of Grupo Bimbo. He has been General Manager of several of its production plants in Guadalajara (1956), Monterrey (1961) and in Mexico City (1963).
He has also been Grupo Bimbo Deputy Director (1969), General Director (1978) and CEO (1990). He has been Chairman of the Board of Directors since April 1994.
He has been a regular lecturer of IPADE, the Universidad Iberoamericana, Universidad de las Américas, Universidad Anáhuac, Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey, Harvard’s Business School, Northwestern University’s J. L. Kellogg Business School and McGill University in Montreal among others, and has also participated in events in Mexico and abroad.
Currently, he is a member of the Advisory Board of Chrysler de México, Grupo Altex, Escuela Bancaria y Comercial, of the Memorial Hermann International Advisory Board in Houston, Texas, and of Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste S.A. de C.V. (ASUR).
In May 2002, the North West La Salle University bestowed him with a Humanities H. C. PhD.
He is the author of the book “Estrategia de Éxito Empresarial”, (Strategy for Entrepreneurial Success) of which there is a second edition, and of several articles and publications. In October 2010, he received the Business for Peace Honouree acknowledgement from the Business for Peace Foundation in Oslo, Norway.
