Bimbo, a 100% Mexican company, announced it will officially sponsor Mexican Olympic Committee (COM) athletes and athletes with disabilities from the Mexican Paralympic Committee (COPAME) during the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris and competitions in Los Angeles in 2028. With this, Bimbo reaffirms its commitment to Mexico, the Mexican talent, and to promoting a healthy life through physical activity and sport.
By sponsoring the Mexican Olympic Committee, Bimbo will benefit approximately 130 athletes expected to be part of Mexico's delegation to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. It will also support the participation of athletes in preparation competitions and those participating in the qualification processes for this year's Games, among other things. For the Los Angeles 2028 competition, the sponsorship will contribute to the participation of athletes in the Central American and Pan American delegations, in addition to the warmup competitions required. As a long-term project, the sponsorship will also help more than 700 athletes to continue their training at the Mexican Olympic Sports Center. Among the items included in this sponsorship are transportation, food and lodging, medical and nutritional support, technical equipment, coaches, physical trainers, and camps.
By sponsoring the Mexican Paralympic Committee, Bimbo will contribute with the purchase of uniforms for athletes with disabilities, coaches, and accompanying assistants who will participate in the competitive stage of key events that grant direct or indirect places to the Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games; this includes world championships, world series, world cups, challenger and regattas. The academic development of the national Movement will also be promoted to increase specialization in Adapted and Paralympic Sports in our country.
During the sponsorship announcement, José Manuel González, Commercial Director of Bimbo Mexico, said: "The Olympic and Paralympic Games are a symbol of excellence, perseverance and talent. Those who participate embody these attributes, not only during the weeks of competition every four years but during a lifetime of effort, discipline, and self-confidence. Bimbo is proud to sponsor athletes for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics, as well as the 2028 Los Angeles competitions. "Thanks to all Mexican athletes for being a source of hope and motivation."
María José Alcalá, president of the Mexican Olympic Committee, said: "This is one of the first long-term sponsorships to be signed, supporting the COM not only for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games but also for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic cycle. The athletes participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be the first to benefit. We expect 130 athletes to make up the Mexican delegation; however, this resource will also support the multidisciplinary teams attending the Games. In the long term, it will benefit more than 700 athletes who will continue training at the Mexican Olympic Sports Center."
To close the event, Liliana Suárez, president of the Mexican Paralympic Committee, said: "This alliance is not only the signing of an agreement but a crucial step towards our nation's growth and integral development. We are forging a more responsible, conscious, and destined Mexico to reach new heights in the sporting and social spheres. Our athletes with disabilities are an inexhaustible source of pride. With partnerships like this, barriers are reduced, paving the way to achieve their objectives.”
In this way, Bimbo pays tribute to the millions of Mexicans who are examples of commitment, perseverance, and confidence in the future. We honor those with the courage to transform their reality and those who improve the reality of others through their support and generosity.
Throughout its 78 years, the company has promoted programs and initiatives, such as Futbolito Bimbo and Bimbo Global Race, to promote healthy lifestyles and involve families and communities in physical activity and healthy coexistence.
