Communities and Sustainability: Why Caring for the Environment Also Strengthens the Social Fabric

Caring for the natural environment can have a direct impact on people’s quality of life. Forest conservation, environmental education, reforestation, volunteerism, and community development projects all help build stronger and more resilient communities.
Good Neighbor Program and Corporate Volunteering
Communities face different challenges depending on their location, environment, and relationship with natural resources. That is why local initiatives are essential to addressing specific needs and building stronger connections.
Through its Good Neighbor Program and corporate volunteer initiatives, Grupo Bimbo promotes projects that strengthen community development in the locations where it operates. In 2025, the Company supported approximately 270 Good Neighbor projects worldwide, focused on education, well-being, and environmental stewardship.
In Mexico, these efforts translate into concrete initiatives that address local needs. One example is Rain Schools, a project developed in collaboration with strategic partners that provides rainwater harvesting systems to schools, promoting sustainable access to water while fostering environmental awareness among students and their communities.
Corporate volunteering further brings these initiatives closer to everyday life. In 2025, thousands of associates participated in activities such as reforestation and tree-planting events, contributing to ecosystem restoration while strengthening a shared sense of responsibility toward the environment.
These actions help create opportunities for learning and participation, where environmental stewardship becomes more than an abstract concept and instead becomes a collective practice built jointly by communities and the Company.
Landscape-Based Conservation
Beyond volunteer efforts, Grupo Bimbo has developed projects that integrate environmental conservation and local development through initiatives in different regions of the country. In 2025, these efforts were part of a broader social impact portfolio that included more than 270 community projects, many of them focused on environmental protection and ecosystem regeneration.
These projects are designed to generate learnings that can be replicated and scaled over time. Their purpose is to promote models that combine ecosystem protection with community development through solutions tailored to the specific needs of each territory.
In Mexico, this approach is reflected in initiatives such as reforestation and environmental restoration activities carried out in partnership with specialized organizations. These efforts promote not only tree planting, but also ecosystem recovery and the active participation of communities and volunteers in long-term environmental stewardship.
A landscape-based approach enables a more holistic understanding of a territory. It is not just about intervening in a specific location, but about recognizing the connections among ecosystems, economic activities, communities, and available resources. From this perspective, conservation is built through a long-term vision that integrates social development with environmental protection.
Regenerative Agriculture and Agricultural Communities
The connection between sustainability and communities is also evident in agriculture. Since 2020, Grupo Bimbo has been transforming its agricultural supply chain through regenerative agriculture, a set of practices designed to restore soil health, enhance biodiversity, and strengthen ecosystems.
Globally, the Company has continued expanding these practices and, by the end of 2025, had more than 500,000 hectares under regenerative agriculture practices, representing an increase of nearly 73% compared to the more than 290,000 hectares reported at the end of 2024. This progress strengthens Grupo Bimbo’s efforts at the origin of its value chain and reflects its belief that the purpose of Nourishing a Better World begins with healthy soil.
Environmental actions create greater value when they are connected to the needs of communities. Reforestation, ecosystem conservation, agricultural capacity building, and environmental education are ways of protecting natural resources while contributing to local well-being.
