This past weekend, with the opening whistle, the 62nd edition of Futbolito Bimbo kicked off, the largest children’s soccer tournament in Mexico, in which girls and boys from public and private schools across the country’s 32 states take part. This initiative aims to promote values such as teamwork, tolerance, camaraderie, and healthy competition through sports.

The regular matchdays take place during February, March, and April; afterward, the state finals are held on May 9 and 10, followed by the regional finals on May 16 and 17. The winning teams advance to the national stage, which takes place from May 27 to 29, culminating in the grand final on May 30 in Mexico City.

In this edition, the tournament is being held on atypical dates due to the international soccer tournament that will take place in the country during the summer, allowing participants to fully enjoy the experience.

The 2026 edition brings together 47,450 girls and boys from across Mexico, 32,665 boys and 14,785 girls, organized into 4,506 teams from 3,860 public schools and 906 private schools. Of the total teams registered, 3,049 compete in the boys’ division and 1,457 in the girls’ division.

During the tournament’s opening ceremony, Georgina Rodríguez, Sponsorship Leader at Grupo Bimbo, wished the teams great success and said that “Futbolito Bimbo is part of other initiatives we have developed to promote healthier lifestyles, such as the Bimbo Global Race, the largest charity race worldwide, and our sponsorship of the Mexican Olympic Committee and the Mexican Paralympic Committee, through which we support the talent of athletes and para-athletes who proudly represent our country.”

Teams are made up of a minimum of six and a maximum of 14 players, who must have been born between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2016, have a minimum grade point average of 8.0, and belong to the same educational institution.

Through the Green Card Proyecto Cantera Entrenando para la Vida®, the tournament recognizes and promotes fair play, highlighting the positive actions that girls and boys carry out both on and off the field throughout the competition.

In this way, Futbolito Bimbo is consolidated as one of Grupo Bimbo’s most relevant social responsibility initiatives in Mexico, promoting values such as discipline, respect, and healthy coexistence among girls and boys across the country.
