On World Food DayGrupo Bimbo prompts initiatives to help those who are most vulnerable and promotes actions that contribute to reducing the undernourishment gap.

As part of its global level programs, for the third consecutive year, the world´s largest baking company is donating 1.4 million slices of bread to Food Banks, as a result of the kilometers ran by all Bimbo Global Energy Race participants, which in its 2018 edition, gathered over 110 thousand runners in 23 nations.

On the other hand, in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Grupo Bimbo announces its participation as one of the founding members of the  #SinDesperdicio (#NoWaste) platform, an initiative aimed at tackling food loss and waste in Latin America and the Caribbean.

#SinDesperdicio brings together members from the public and private sectors, who will pursue supporting initiatives under four areas of work: innovating projects; public policies national and local wise; generation of knowledge and responsible consumption habits.

Raúl Argüelles, Chief HR and Corporate Affairs Officer and CSO of Grupo Bimbo said: “Since we were founded, over 70 years ago, it is our priority to work every day to build a sustainable, highly productive and deeply humane company. Therefore, through initiatives such as the Bimbo Global Energy Race, we are contributing with our grain of flour and encouraging thousands of people to run for a cause, helping vulnerable sectors of society, because for every kilometer a person runs, the Company will donate two slices of bread to food banks.”

As founding members of #SinDesperdicio we are also taking one more step towards our purpose to help make this world a better place. We congratulate the IDB for this initiative and we are sure that by joining efforts and synergies, we will reduce food loss in the region together,” Argüelles stated.

With actions like this, Grupo Bimbo endorses one more time its commitment with present and future generations, going through a sustainable path with options for everyone and with a humane sense.
