Can you imagine living a day without energy?

In a hypothetical scenario...
World Energy Day
Grupo Bimbo
Mexico City

It's 5 am, and your phone didn't ring. You decide to take a cold shower because there's no hot water. Grabbing a glass of water, a few slices of toast, and some diced fruit, today's breakfast is limited to items that don't require kitchen appliances. You eat quietly since there's no way to listen to your usual morning podcast.

Heading out of your house to kick off your workday, thankfully, you have a bike. You start your usual route to get to work.

You start pondering, how will you manage to work and tackle your pending tasks? You think about the countless emails that won't get sent, no video conferences will happen, machines in industries won't operate, causing delays, and everything will start to crumble.

Ever wondered what the world would be like without energy?

Certainly not what we're familiar with today, and we wouldn't have achieved the social, technological, and economic development we currently have.

That's why, since February 14, 1949, World Energy Day has been commemorated. Its primary goal is to raise awareness about the rational use and conservation of energy in our daily lives.

We value and conserve energy.

At Grupo Bimbo, we continue to advance environmental initiatives in the countries where we operate. We are mindful of the energy we use in our processes, aligning with our commitment to Science-Based Targets to reduce carbon emissions and limit global temperature in line with the Paris Agreement.

Among our accomplishments:

• 92% of the electricity used in Grupo Bimbo is generated or supported by renewable sources. At the end of 2023, 27 countries are 100% renewable under the RE100 standards.
• 62% of our refrigerants are natural.
• Over 5,000 of our vehicles run on alternative fuels, with over 2,400 being electric.
• We earned recognition from the Carbon Disclosure Project, receiving an "A" rating for our global efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change.
• Implementation of energy-efficient practices to reduce electricity consumption in our operations.

What can you start doing today?

• Raise awareness about how you use energy and the type of energy you consume.
• Integrate clean energy into your daily life.
• Share simple actions for responsible energy use and their benefits with acquaintances. For example:
• Maximize natural lighting.
• Use energy-efficient light bulbs and remember to keep them clean to maximize their effectiveness.
• Run full loads in your washing machine.
• Turn off and unplug devices when not in use.

On this World Energy Day, let's champion sustainable sources. Every small action contributes to a brighter future!
